I care about finding a balance in a world so unbalanced. I care about helping others to find this balance.I was often out of balance in my life. I grew up on junk food, it isn’t my mother’s fault, who knew. I drank cans and cans of diet coke thinking that would keep my extra weight off, I binged on Duncan Donuts and I had very a very emotional monthly cycle. I left home at a young age to live in Israel where I became a vegan to manage my weight and binge eating but this still didn’t manage my difficult monthly mood swings. I was drinking 2- 3 cups of coffee with milk and sugar every morning and in retrospect that really didn’t help me feel stable.
I always exercised, I am very active I used to be a competitive figure skater and then when that was over I swam, went to the gym, and did active walking,
Despite all this I inherited these emotional monthly cycle and out of balanced hormones, from the women on my mother’s side of the family. My mother used to say she had only one good week a month and I was following in her footsteps.
Finally, at the age of 37 my body gave up, I broke it. Tremendous pain invaded my being and I no longer could get so emotional without it hurting too much.
My transformation began when I quit coffee it helped tremendously to maintain a calm demeanor and manage my emotions. Then I moved with my family to a Chinese Kung Fu school in Wudang China. We spent two years there training, homeschooling and sharing memorable moments with the foreigners and the Chinese who trained there. It gave me the tools I needed to finally heal myself and truly transform into a healthy happy version of myself. I freed myself from my pain and I found balance through movement especially but not only Tai Chi, and Qigong. I learned that when things aren’t feeling right if I move then everything settles back into place.
Joining the Institute for Integrative Nutrition was the next step for me. I acquired the tools I needed to tweak my already quite healthy eating so that I could finally take control of my moody cycle and live happily without the highs and lows that some foods might create. I learned to pay fine attention to my body and when a food affected me negatively I knew to cut it out or reduce it to only special occasions.
